Individual therapy:
The goal of individual therapy is to facilitate change and insight to improve one’s overall sense of well -being, mental health and interpersonal relationships. Individual therapy involves the establishment of a new relationship, and often involves analyzing the past to heal deep seated emotional pain or symptoms. It also involves analyzing thinking patterns contributing to challenges in the here and now.
Couples therapy:
In couples therapy, married or not, the “couple”, not the individual, is the patient. The goal of couple’s therapy is to increase mutual understanding and communication of hurt feelings to help resolve conflicts and improve relationships. Couples therapy strives to identify and improve overall communication patterns.
Couples therapy for the individual:
This is individual relationship counseling. This is for the individual whose partner cannot come to therapy, or because the individual chooses not to have their partner come to therapy. This type of therapy is also good for someone who has thoughts about discontinuing a relationship or who is experiencing difficulties with relationships in general. This type of therapy often precedes couples work, or accompanies it.
Consultation:
Consultation is the brief process of giving advice and opinions on a specific issue or problem. Consultation typically does not analyze the past or heal deep seated emotional pain.
Life Coaching:
Coaching is when the therapist gives advice on one specific issue or a cluster of issues at the same time. The therapist stays with you while you implement those changes. Coaching takes a look at what you are doing and how you can do it better. It involves the therapist directly giving advice, as well as giving a voice to the client for them to realize things on their own. Coaching typically assists high functioning individuals who want support to enhance their already satisfying life, or helps those who are in a state of growth or change, or who are enduring difficulties in some life task. Its interesting how one troubled issue can misalign the holistic balance and wellness of an otherwise happy or content person. Once aligned, its fascinating how the balance of a person can be restored.
Tele-therapy & E-Therapy
Tele-therapy is the process of providing psychotherapy over the phone. E-therapy, or internet therapy, is psychotherapy over the internet, either through emails in the written word, or through Skype. Skype is the software that allows users to make video calls over the internet for free. It allows the experience to feel more intimate and together because each person can see and hear the other person, even though apart. Both are convenient ways to discuss your issues, one-one-one with a therapist in your own personal space, whether you are at home, or at the office, or elsewhere. Tele-therapy and E-therapy are professional relationships. The primary difference is that traditional psychotherapy takes place in a psychotherapy office or clinic. People often mix traditional face to face therapy in my office with tele-therapy. This an available option. Please click here to select a package that suites your needs.
