Treatment for Depression
Psychodynamic therapy creates a strong therapeutic alliance as a means to provide a supportive and caring relationship where the patient can feel safe to share their dark feelings and not be judged. This helps ease the pain of depression and addresses the feelings of hopelessness, and isolation that accompany depression and often keep people from getting help. Cognitive therapy helps patients change their pessimistic ideas, unrealistic expectations and overly self critical self-evaluations that create depression and sustain it. This therapy helps patients recognize which life problems are critical, and which are minor. This helps to develop positive life goals, and a more positive self-assessment.
